Wonders of Cochlear Implants :

A cochlear implant, a sophisticated electronic device, serves as a transformative solution for individuals experiencing severe to profound hearing loss, where traditional hearing aids may offer limited benefit. Comprising two integral parts—external and internal—the implant addresses hearing challenges through a comprehensive approach. The external component, including a speech processor, battery unit, and coil cable, connects to the internal component—a receiver and electrode array surgically implanted by an Ear surgeon. Incoming sounds are processed by the speech processor into electrical signals and transmitted to the auditory nerve via the implanted electrode array within the cochlea. This breakthrough technology bypasses damaged ear portions, enhancing sound perception for individuals with profound hearing loss. Cochlear implants stand as a groundbreaking solution, significantly improving auditory experiences.

Cochlear-Implants

Pre Cochlear Implant Testing & Therapy:

  • We conduct extensive counselling sessions for parents of hearing impaired children to help them to understand about Cochlear Implants.
  • We even hold interactive sessions with the children and their parents who have already received cochlear implants.
  • Auditory, Language, and Speech Therapy provided for hearing-impaired children by highly qualified and experienced special education therapists.
  • Empowering parents of hearing-impaired children through individual and group sessions to enhance interaction and sharing.
  • Periodic auditory assessments are conducted, and referral for cochlear implant surgery is made if deemed necessary.

Post Cochlear Implant Therapy :

  • The child receives the implant, which is then activated in the third week post-cochlear implant surgery.
  • Auditory, Speech, and Language therapy for children begins immediately thereafter.
  • Auditory Verbal Therapy is initiated for very young children.
  • Auditory Verbal Therapy is initiated for very young children.

Mapping for Cochlear Implant Recipients :

  • Mapping involves the programming of the cochlear implant by an Audiologist.
